Grant's Big 40th Birthday!

So here he is....Grant Horsley.....turning the big 40! Grant was born on September 19, 1968. He was an adorable child who grew up to be a"Hot" man. Even though he hates getting older I think he gets better looking each year. We had a surprise party for Grant where family and friends could tell him Happy Birthday. It was a blast! Here are some pictures of Grant as a child. Check out the video of Grant and my two brothers playing Rock Band after the party. Too funny!

A Blast From The Past!

I had an amazing experience with mother this weekend. Since her husband passed away she has been very lonely. Her 50th High school reunion was coming up and she didn't want to go alone so I went as her traveling companion. What a joy it was to sit with these sweet old people and hear about their tales from the past. How they called each other by calling the operator and telling them a number like 27J or 25R. When their phone rang they had to listen to the rings. If it rang once it was for their neighbor and if their phone rang twice it was for them. They told me of the times when the were spanked by their high school teachers and how parents got into fist fights after football games and threw rocks at the bus. They shared experiences when they met at the diner for shakes and dancing by the juke box. They had such a carefree life back then. No technology to over stimulate them. Just a lot of talking on the porch with neighbors and Friends and lots of dancing. Every night we were at the reunion they would dance. Even the classes that were celebrating their 75th High school reunion could cut a rug. Check out the video below. The women in pink is 94 years old. I was amazed. The original band members that played for the dances back then still played for the mighty Vandals (Vikings) that night. My mom had the time of her life. We rode in a limo to the Hotel and then we were pampered by her boyfriends from the past. They escorted us everywhere. Good old Tucker even insisted on taking us back to the airport. I was in awe by the love showed in hugs and kisses all around. I would have loved to have had a chance to live back then. Ahhhh! The good old days were really good days from what I can see!

Awesome Limo Ride!

Our 17th Year Anniversary!

Look at us we are just babies! Crazy huh?! I can’t believe how time flies. It just seems like yesterday we were dating and had life by the tail. Now that we are older and wiser (LOL) we know we never did. I am so glad I married my best friend. I don’t think we could have made it through the hard times in life without our friendship. I am so proud to married to a man who honors his priesthood and is determined to make me and my children happy. I love him ...even all of his little quirks. How can I not? He is adorable! Here are some of the things I remember best in our 17 years together….

*Best memory: The day I married my best friend.
*Worst memory: Saying goodbye to my husband while he serves in the military being married for 6 months and pregnant.
*Favorite thing to do with Grant: Travel to romantic getaways.
*Favorite daily ritual: Giggling in bed before we go to sleep. (It drives Austin crazy because we laugh so hard and loud.)
*Favorite date: Our first date that lasted all night. (It was clean fun...get your mind out of the gutter!)
*Most appreciated thing in our marriage: Unconditional love
*Best thing about being married to Grant: I can be my crazy self and he still loves me. (I’m one lucky girl.)

I love you Grant! Thank you for 17 wonderful years and three beautiful children. You are the best thing that ever happened to me. I am a better person because of you. I can’t wait to see what the next 17 years has in store for us. It will be hard to top. Happy Anniversary!

The Birthday Marathon is in Full Swing!

At the Horsley home, at this time each year, we have four birthdays and an anniversary in a 3 week period. Let’s just say it seems like one big long party. You know how you save up for months for Christmas? Well …we have to save up all year for our week of parties. We just had Marissa’s birthday party. It was your typical teenage party. Of course this is when they start having both boys and girls come and we play crazy games like pass the life saver with toothpicks (They love this because they get really close to the opposite sex and giggle), pop the balloon wearing boxer shorts, and the good old neighborhood scavenger hunt. Ahhhh….to be a teenager again. I guess it was a blast because we finally had to kick everyone out at 11:00 pm. Here are a few pics. I can’t believe I have twins that are in Junior High. It is crazy. Here they are doing what teenagers do best....pigging out!I think Austin purposely stood by this cute girl for the game.

Marissa wanted smores for her treat! Here she is blowing out her candles. So much fun!
Austin played it safe by just inviting the boys to go to the aquatic center. They had a blast! Robbie is trying to cover up his white body! He better try harder than that.
The boys being cool and planning pool games.

Austin doesn't blow out his candles he licks his fingers and snuffs the flames out. I guess it is the cool way to blow out your candles now days.

Check out the ground with all the crumbs and their faces. Good call on having them eat outside!

At Last the Day Has Arrived!

This is the day that had been talked about for years. It finally arrived and our adorable Breanna got her drivers license. Yippee!!! Here she is sporting her new drivers license on her newly pimped out car. Check it out! Grant and I hired some of Bre's friends who are amazing with cars to pimp it out. They installed a new stereo with an awesome sub woofer, they put chrome on all of the doors and handles, and they also installed red lights inside on the floor. I have to admit it is pretty cool. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BREANNA!

P.S. She is a great driver!

What? You called the police?

I have the best kids in the world. They are so amazing! They did a great job taking care of things while we were on our cruise and running our family business. I was so proud of them until day 8 when things fell apart. When we arrived home we were greeted by a black haired boy who we hardly recognized. Apparently Austin wanted his hair dyed black so Breanna volunteered to do it. After she colored it some of the hair was still blonde so she decided to cut it out so you couldn't see it. Then...we were informed that the police stopped by earlier to unhandcuff Marissa from the banister. Yes....Can you believe it? Austin and his four friends in crime decided it would be hilarious to handcuff Marissa to the banister. Of course they didn't count on the handcuffs sticking and they couldn't get her out. They panicked and one of Austin's brilliant friends decided the best thing to do was to call the police. The police arrived not t happy and they were able to get Marissa's hand free, but not the other cuff. There is was on our banister when we arrived home. To Grant's dismay he could not get it off no matter how hard he tried. I was finally able to borrow some bolt cutters from my school and cut them off. Needless to say there was some punishments handed out. In the end it will make a great story to tell in our family. It is much easier to laugh at it now! Before

Alaskan Cruise

Grant and I just got back from an Alaskan cruise for his parents 5oth anniversary. I have to admit it wasn’t my favorite place to go, but it was beautiful. My favorite part was watching the whales bubble feed. They only do it 2 weeks out of the year. Bubble feeding is when about 8 Hump Back Whales circle around the fish and stun them with their sounds and then they all come up at once with their mouths open. It was amazing. Loved it!

Glacier Bay

Getting ready to sight see in Juneau!

My favorite was watching the whales.

Playing games until the early hours was a blast.

A picture from our verandah.

We stayed a couple of days with Grant's sister in Oregon. It was beautiful. We saw more grey whales ans saw tons of flower farms. I loved this one. The flowers were huge and they had cool names. This picture makes me laugh. I told them to sit down in the flowers. They look really awkward.
