Someone Got New Hair Extensions!

Breanna has been complaining for weeks about how short her hair is. Please... have you seen her hair lately. It is really long. Especially to someone who just cut theirs (me). So after weeks of begging and working for money. She finally got her hair lengthened. I have to admit it is really pretty. After seeing her new hair I am thinking about getting some hair extensions for myself. Here are some before and after shots.

Finally New Carpet!

All that hard work was worth it now that the carpet is in. It is soooo soft. I can't believe how good it smells. Now for the all cleaning out and moving things back.

Honestly, I don't know what Boo is doing in this picture. I think he is posing again or playing dead. Who knows. I love the new tile in our bathroom! It looks awesome if I do say so myself.

And the work begins!

Wow! Who knew that getting new carpet would be so much work. Here are a few pictures of our family tearing out the old carpet to make room for the new carpet. I think we work pretty well as a team. Of course I'm the one taking the pictures. That's important too.So much fun!

The worst part was pulling up all of the staples. Breanna became the expert after an hour.

Finally finished!

Remodeling

We finally decided it was time to recarpet our house after 10 years. Wow! Boy, do we need it. Of course if you are going to recarpet than you need to tile right? With a week and a half before the carpet arrived we decided that we needed to tile two bathrooms and the door entry area. Yes...we are crazy. I wanted to hire someone, but Grant said,"We can do it ourselves and save money." Would you expect Grant to say anything different? With little amount of time ...I think it was a bigger job than we both thought it would be. Working every night until the early morning hours has been hard, but it is beautiful. Here is some pictures of the process.

Of course we have our jobs. Grant cuts the tile and I lay the tile. It seems to work well!

Soon to come...pictures of the newly carpeted Horsley home. P.S. this is for you Lisa! Are you happy?

Tsunami

Every year, in my class, we build a community from the ground up. My students make their houses out of consruction paper and decide the name of the city, what buildings should be in it, and what services the community needs. They vote in a mayor and city council. They learn how to solve problems by thinking of what is best for everyone. After three months of building it up it usually gets destroyed by a Tsunami. I have an emergency team on the scene to talk to my class about emergency preparedness. It really gives them an idea of what people really go through when they have a natural disaster and what they can do to be prepared. Here are some of the pictures from it.In this picture you can see the community in the background. It is pretty cool! Of course there is always one student who breaks down crying because they worked so hard on their house and now it is destroyed. It can be sad, but they learn a lot about what people really lose in a natrual disaster and how to come together as a community and help each other.

Honey Family Couples Party!

We had a blast getting together as couples and enjoying dinner. we also had little Wii competition. What? Honey kids competitive? No way! (Sarcastic) Here are some of the photos of the tennis matches and some of the couples boxing. Check out their faces.
Wii boxing is a great way to take out any aggression you might have.... especially when it comes to your spouse.
